| SHEENA EASTON was born in Bellshill, Scotland, the youngest of six children. Graduating from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama as a teacher of speech and drama, she learned the ropes by singing on the local club circuit in Scotland, which led to a recording contract with EMI Records. Her debut album, "Sheena Easton," clicked immediately, containing the hits "Morning Train" (a number one gold single) and "Modern Girl." Subsequently, Sheena appeared on-screen in the opening title sequence of the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only, singing the title tune. It also became a Top 10 hit. Easton attained a rare feat for a new artist: three consecutive smash hits during the course of only six months capped off by a Grammy Award for "Best New Artist" of 1981. Sheena has made several television appearances, including her own special for NBC, Sheena Easton Act One with guest star Kenny Rogers. The Rogers and Easton duo also scored a country pop hit with "Weve Got Tonight." She also starred in a television special Album Flash, in addition to making her dramatic acting debut in five episodes of Miami Vice. She increased her international appeal with an album recorded entirely in Spanish, "Todo Me Recuerda A Ti" earning a second Grammy Award for the Best Mexican/American Performance category for her duet with Luis Miguel, "Me Gustas Tal Como Eres." Easton remains a top concert attraction around the world, having performed SRO concerts in major arenas in the U.S., United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore and Taipei. |
