| MARK HAMILL, one of seven children from a Navy family, led a nomadic early life, traveling and living in both the United States and abroad. His family moved to Los Angeles where he began acting in high school productions. He graduated from Los Angeles City College with a Theatre Arts degree, winning a part in the play Anthems which landed him an agent. His career literally took off in 1977 when he was chosen to play Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, the first of George Lucas outer space epics, followed by The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Hamill also starred in such features as Corvette Summer, The Big Red One, Brittania Hospital, The Night the Light's Went Out in Georgia, Time Runner and the sci-fi cult film The Guyver. He has co-starred in John Carpenter's Village of the Damned and Showtime presentation of John Carpenter Presents Body Bags and provided voices for the animated motion pictures Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (as The Joker) and Wizards. Hamill made his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning drama, The Elephant Man, playing the title role of John Merrick. He also starred in another Tony winner, Amadeus, and won a Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Musical in Harrigan 'n' Hart. Other principal stage appearances include Room Service and The Nerd. On television, he has logged scores of guest-starring roles in such series as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Amazing Stories, Manhunter, Medical Center, The Streets of San Francisco, One Day At A Time, The Partridge Family, Room 222, General Hospital and The F.B.I.. He starred on the series The Texas Wheelers, had a recurring role on Eight Is Enough and appeared in the telefilms Slipstream, The City, Sarah T., Delancy Street, Earth Angel and The Magic Flute. |
