Lawrence G. Paull

Production Designer LAWRENCE G. PAULL is best known for the visually stunning Blade Runner, the landmark film that earned him the British Academy Award and an Academy Award nomination. His distinctive design style can be seen in a wide variety of films, including 1985’s top-grossing movie, Back to the Future, which earned him a second British Academy Award nomination. He also designed the box-office hits City Slickers, Romancing The Stone, and Sgt. Bilko.

Trained as an architect, Paull graduated from the University of Arizona and began working in films as a set designer, rapidly moving up to the position of art director and then production designer. Paull moved into production design with Little Fauss and Big Halsy, and followed with design credits on such films as The Hired Hand, Star Spangled Girl, W.W. and the Dixie Dance Kings, The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings, Which Way Is Up, Blue Collar, In God We Trust, Project X, Another Stakeout, Unlawful Entry, Born Yesterday, Predator 2, Harlem Nights and Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult and Cocoon: The Return.
