| JOHN AGAR was born in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Harvard School for Boys in Chicago, and graduated from Pawling Prep in Pawling, New York. He served his country for three years as a physical training instructor with the U.S. Army Air Corp. Upon his discharge, he signed a year and a half contract with David O. Selznick. Agar studied drama and voice and was eventually cast as Michael ORourke in John Fords Fort Apache. His 30-year career has included the films She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Sands of Iwo Jima, The Undefeated, Chisum, and Big Jake all with John Wayne, plus a considerable number of credits in science-fiction films of the 1950s. The latter include Brain from Planet Arous, Return of the Creature, The Mole People and Tarantula. In addition, he has appeared in over 100 television programs, including The Ford Theater, Schiltz Playhouse, Perry Mason, Bat Masterson, Name of the Game, Combat, Family Affair, The Virginian, Rawhide and Police Story. Agar also performs on stage and has sung in theaters and night clubs. |
