Bruce Nicholson

With many technical and creative innovations under his belt, Academy Award winner BRUCE NICHOLSON was the visual effects supervisor on Village of the Damned.

Being in the visual/special effects medium for over twenty years, Nicholson has worked for Apogee, Douglas Trumbull, Industrial Light and Magic, Tippett Studio, and Pinnacle Studios. He worked on ILM’s first film, Star Wars. Three years later, when The Empire Strikes Back was in production, he became ILM’s Compositing Supervisor which helped him obtain an Academy Award for the visual effects on that film.

Nicholson got the film bug while earning his bachelor’s degree in Social Science from U.C. Berkeley. He attended film classes at U.C.L.A. during his initial years in the business. He is known for his close attention to detail and has helped create some of the most stunning images in motion picture history. He also received an Academy Award in 1981 for Raiders of the Lost Ark and an Academy Award nomination, in 1982, for Poltergeist. Prior to working on Village of the Damned, Nicholson worked with John Carpenter on the effects for In the Mouth of Madness and Starman. Some of his other projects include: Armageddon, Ghost, Always, Field of Dreams, Batteries Not Included, Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom, Return of the Jedi and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
